When I create a black-and-white illustration, my hatching and patterns are my "colors." Crosshatching allows me to create shadows, light, and depth in the illustration.

Café de Flore is a traditional restaurant in Paris. Many notable writers and philosophers used to frequent it. Café de Flore is also featured in the currently popular Netflix series "Emily in Paris."

Many people have an elephant in their lives. Some are large, others small and fearful, or they comment from a corner. A chronic illness like asthma, for example, can sometimes be so invisible to others. I captured that with this illustration. zvisible.

In Paris, I saw these two people hiding from the rain under a tree on their way to the Eiffel Tower. I had to look out from under my umbrella twice. I thought to myself... Hey? Am I really seeing that? I thought it was fantastic. There were more trees like this, and I noticed that this one suddenly had five trunks. What were they doing? It was the perfect spot for a secret rendezvous, a secret kiss, or a marriage proposal at the foot of the Eiffel Tower. What would it be like to be under a tree like that, just the two of them?
